The first ever Disc Golf World Tour event will be played on the famous LaMirada Disc Golf Course. We’ll see the esteemed course take a new shape as the La Mirada Open Gold Course for the inaugural World Tour event. The La Mirada Open promoter Jeff Spohr and the DGWT director Jussi Meresmaa began their collaboration on La Mirada Open in early 2015, with a common goal to bring top level competition back to one of the oldest and most revered disc golf communities and courses in the US.
History
La Mirada is the 2nd oldest permanent course in the world and has been in the ground since 1977. The course has an extensive history of hosting many of the sport’s legendary players and great tournaments.
La Mirada’s tournament history started with the original La Mirada Open. This tournament was started by Hall of Famer Dan Mangone in 1978 and grew into a must attend destination for the best players in the world at the time. The following historic tournaments were organized and hosted by another hall of famer, the late Tim Selinske, with the U.S. Masters and the National Tour event Golden State Classic. The course has been home to World Champions, disc golf innovators, hall of famers, and many touring pros. Having a chance to play in a top tier tournament at La Mirada is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
