Presenting the European Amateur Open
The 2017 season has brought some big changes to the Disc Golf World Tour – one of these is the inclusion of several divisions in most World Tour events. European Open to joins this trend with the addition of the European Amateur Open! The Beast invites amateur players on July 15.-16.
European Amateur Open is a new component of the famed European Open. As the name suggest the event is geared towards amateur players. The available divisions are MA1, MA3, FA1 and MJ1. This PDGA B-tier event takes place on the weekend before the European Open. The temporary tournament layout of the Nokia DiscGolfPark that hosts the original European PDGA major is now available for the 180 participants of the European Amateur Open. The tournament provides a much sought-after premium tournament experience for amateur players – two 18-hole rounds at round-per-day pace with staggered starts on an immaculately prepared course.
The event offers a last chance qualification route to European Open 2017. One of the 13 wild card spots will be granted to the player with the lowest 2-round total score at the European Amateur Open!
Registration starts on May 4th
The registration starts in less than a week at the Finnish Disc Golf Association’s (FDGA) website on Thursday May 4th. We highly recommend non-Finnish players looking to take part in this event to get themselves acquainted with the FDGA registration system. You might want to create an account for yourself well before hand as the event is expected to fill up quite quickly.
